Just ask any Carey diploma candidate. But studying can be a lot of fun. Just ask any of the 35 Baltimore public high school students who took part in the third annual HackCarey coding workshop held December 10 at the business schoolâs Harbor East campus. The college students from metropolis colleges similar to Coppin Academy and Western were given the task of utilizing HTML and JavaScript to develop a variation of the favored online game Flappy Bird. Carey college students, including members of the varsityâs Innovation Factory membership, and representatives of co-sponsors Capitol One and Baltimore-based expertise firm Mindgrub served as mentors and instructors. Careyâs Bradley Waters (MBA, Enterprise Risk Management â17), Mauro Gurdulich (Global MBA '18), and Alyssa Perez (Global MBA â18) helped lead the organizing of the daylong event. Waters advised the technology information web site Technical.ly/Baltimore that the hackathon is based on the thought âYou solely be taught by doing.â HackCarey is the brainchild of Dan Givol, who graduated final June with a Global MBA diploma. Now a product supervisor at Capitol One, he returned for the third edition to supply steering and encouragement to the highschool students. The hackathon was a spotlight of his time as a Carey student, Givol stated in a Carey Business article in regards to the 2015 event: âThis was by far my favourite expertise at Carey. Iâm very pleased with it. Business is about individuals. You get to work together with them, and also you get to connect on a personal level.
